<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest pivotally attaching device of a chair in which backrest rods supporting a backrest part are pivotally attached to a seat receiving body of a seat part so that the chair can be rocked, capable of smoothly rotatably supporting the seat receiving body, the backrest rods and a turing shaft without sliding even if they are made of metal, capable of preventing loosening without using a loosening preventive means such as an E-ring in the turing shaft, and capable of being easily assembled. <P>SOLUTION: Hanging walls 23 extending in the front and rear direction are formed on both sides on the lower surface of a seat outer 13, and the seat receiving body 10 is attached between the hanging walls 23. A non-circular hole 51 is formed on the base of one of the right and left backrest rods 4, and a circular hole 52 is formed on the base of the other rod. The turing shaft 5 is inserted into a through hole 54 formed on either side plate 50 of the seat receiving body, and a non-cylindrical part 53 formed at one end of the turing shaft is unrotatably fitted into the non-circular hole of the one backrest rod, and the front end of the turing shaft is inserted into the circular hole of the other backrest rod.
