<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool controlling heat deformation and capable of efficiently cooling machining heat during cutting. <P>SOLUTION: A lathe 1 includes: a spindle part 5; a bed 4 for supporting the spindle part 5; an containing chamber 3 for containing the spindle part 5, the bed 4, and a workpiece W; a motor 6 for supplying rotary drive force to the spindle part 5; and a tool rest 10 supporting a machining tool T. The spindle part 5 includes: a spindle 5A rotated and driven by the rotary drive force from the motor 6; and a chuck means 5B mounted on the spindle 5A, for holding the workpiece W. The machining tool T acts on the workpiece W integrally rotated and driven with the spindle 5A to perform machining.
