PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear reactor core cooling system capable of stably cooling a reactor core for a long period of time by providing means of supplying water to an isolation condenser pool even when no electric power is available such as during a total AC power failure of a nuclear power plant.
SOLUTION: A nuclear reactor core cooling system includes: a pressure tight isolation condenser pool having an isolation condenser located therein, sufficient coolant water to submerge the isolation condenser, and a safety valve; a steam turbine driven by steam generated in a vapor phase portion of the pressure tight isolation condenser pool; steam turbine downstream piping which is connected to a steam outlet port of the steam turbine to release steam turbine exhaust to atmosphere; a water injection pump mechanically coupled with a rotating shaft of the steam turbine; a water supply source for supplying coolant water to the pressure tight isolation condenser pool; and a check valve provided in water injection pump downstream piping to prevent the coolant water from flowing toward the water supply source from the pressure tight isolation condenser pool.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
