<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noble gas discharge tube that implements an improved life without compromising a lamp emission characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: In the noble gas discharge tube having a tubular glass bulb having an internal space, and first and second electrodes disposed in respective end portions of the tubular glass bulb, the internal space is filled with a noble gas at a pressure of 600 Pa-1,400 Pa, the first electrode and the second electrode each have an electrode body formed into a cup, a layer of a conductive mayenite compound is formed in the cup of the electrode body, and a lamp current density of 4.0 mA/cm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>or less is operatively applied per unit area of an internal surface of the cup. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
