An electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection system for electrical cables (3) inside a tower (1) with an internal down-conductor (2) has a U-shaped shield (11) with a base portion (12) and two adjoining side portions (13). The base portion (12) and the side portions (13) define a protected space (14) for the electrical cables (3).
