The method involves detecting positions of motor cars (10), and transmitting the detected positions to a mobile communication apparatus (14), by a central data processing device (12). The position of one of the motor cars, to which the communication apparatus is assigned, is derived based on its own position and the positions of the motor cars according to a predetermined criterion. Personalized data of users are used to make personal settings in assignment of the communication apparatus to the motor car.
