The method of purifying waste water from petroleum products involves mechanical purification and post-purification by filtering through a layer of fixed sorbent. The sorbent used is carbonate sludge from clarification tanks of thermal power plants dried to 3-20% moisture content, having the chemical composition CaCO+MgO+Mg(OH)+SiO+Fe(OH)+Al(OH).
