METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING VIABILITY OF MYOCARDIUM BY MAGNETIC RESONANCE TOMOGRAPHY WITH DOBUTAMINE STRESS

A method for diagnosing viability of myocardium by magnetic resonance tomography is realized at the rest and upon dobutamine-induced stress. Dobutamine dose is gradually increased and intravenous contrasting is provided. The thickness of the myocardial wall of the left ventricle is measured at the rest. The negative response to the high doses of dobutamine manifesting as akinesia or dyskinesia, the absence of the regional thickening of the wall, and the transmural pattern of contrasting at the late enhancement phase are indicative of the loss of myocardial viability.
