<p>PURPOSE: A method for providing user interface for a video search by utilizing thumbnail images and an apparatus thereof are provided to enable a user to grasp overall scene changes in a video. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for providing a user interface displays multiple thumbnail images on a display screen with an equal space interval, time interval, or the combination of the space and time intervals(S10). The apparatus interprets a search action by sensing a touch on the list of the thumbnail images or on the display screen(S20). The apparatus calculates a time interval, space interval, or the combination of the time and space intervals of thumbnail images which are to be displayed based on the interpretation of the search action(S30). The apparatus displays the multiple thumbnail images again according to the calculated time interval, space interval, or the combination of the time and space intervals(S40).
