The device has an automatic returning body (4) provided to exert permanently on a flexible cover (2) of a return bias toward a retracted configuration. A deployment unit (5) is operated by a user and separated independent of the returning body. The deployment unit is designed to exert on the flexible cover with respect to actuation of the user. A deployment request from the deployment unit is opposed to the return bias, and surpasses the return bias to gradually deploy the flexible cover on a roof (3F) until the return bias reaches a partially deployed configuration chosen by the user.
