<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing methylacetylene in better yield than the conventional separation and recovery method from a C3 stream of a naphtha cracker. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing methylacetylene includes synthesis from 2-chloroethanol and/or a vinyl chloride monomer by a catalytic reaction using a catalyst containing at least one metal element selected from a group consisting of W, Mo, V, Mn and Re.
