PURPOSE: An MDPS(Motor Driven Power Steering) relay inspection device and method are provided to alternately inspect the normality of a relay through an MCU and a safety monitoring circuit at each power cycle. CONSTITUTION: An MDPS relay inspecting method comprises the following steps: confirming a final relay inspection mode in a storage unit(S220) when entering the power off step of an MDPS device(S210); determining a second inspection mode as a current inspection mode if the relay inspection mod is a first inspection mode; and delivering an inspection command for performing the second inspection mode to a safety monitoring circuit(S240).
