<p>The sensor has a splitter element (44) i.e. frequency separating filter, exhibiting filter characteristics to transfer higher-frequency and low-frequency portions of a receiving signal as partial receiving signals into a limiting amplifier (46), an amplifier (50) and analog to digital converters (48, 52) so that the high-frequency portions contain a receiving pulse of hard targets, and the low-frequency portions contain a fog signal of soft targets. An evaluation unit (30) determines presence of objects in a monitored area (18), an object distance, and impaired visibility from the signals. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting and determining a distance between objects in a monitoring region.</p> |
