PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for providing a health care service are provided to offer an IP-based health care service in a home network, which outputs accumulated data as well as measured data to a separate display device such as a TV for displaying in various ways. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing a health care service comprises the steps of: calculating health data using sensor data measured by one or more sensors; processing the health data into an actuator control signal for applying to at least one actuator according to a predetermined health service; and delivering the actuator control signal to a corresponding actuator. An apparatus for providing a health care service comprises at least one or more sensors; at least one or more actuators; a sensor bridge which receives sensing data which is sensed by the at least one or more sensors; a health GW(gateway) which receives sensing data form the sensor bridge, processes the health data into the actuator control signal, and delivers the actuator control signal to a corresponding actuator. The health GW includes additionally a display device that displays presenting data processed from the health data by the health GW.
