<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having a reduced dimension in the thickness direction and facilitating assembling, and a signal transmission medium using the optical module. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module 1 includes: a photoelectric conversion element 21 optically connected to an optical fiber 90; a plate-shaped substrate 3 mounting the photoelectric conversion element 21; first and second coupling members 41 and 42 fixed to both end portions of the substrate 3 so as to sandwich the photoelectric conversion element 21; and first and second cover members 51 and 52 coupled to the substrate 3 by the first and second coupling members 41 and 42 so as to cover at least a portion of the substrate 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
