PURPOSE: A method for enhancing flax seed production and oil content using a gibberellin biosynthesis inhibitor is provided to increase flax seed production and oil content by spraying mepiquat chloride or trinexapac-ethyl at an optimal concentration. CONSTITUTION: A method for enhancing flax seed production and oil content comprises the following steps: seeding flax seeds; irrigating the soil with water after 40-45 days from the flax seeding; and spraying the phylloplane of a flax plant body with 200-600 ppm of chloride or 100-300 ppm of trinexapac-ethyl at a speed of 80 to 100 milliliters per 1 m^2. When the mepiquat chloride is sprayed, palmitic acid and stearic aid, which are saturated fatty acids, are decreased while concentration is increased, but oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid content, which are unsaturated fatty acids, are increased.
