<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contactless power transmission system and method including an overheat protection function for protecting a battery cell module against damage due to overheat, when it is charged with power. <P>SOLUTION: In a contactless power transmission system and method including an overheat protection function, a contactless power transmitter 100 transmits first power from a power transmission coil 140 to a contactless power receiver 200 in order to charge a battery cell module 250. When an overheat warning signal is received from the contactless power receiver 200, the contactless power transmitter 100 transmits second power lower than the first power from the power transmission coil 140 to the contactless power receiver 200 in order to charge the battery cell module 250.
