A flexible tape cable is terminated by a resilient insulating beading the cross-section of which includes at least one channel which can be interlocked with a channel of a similar beading attached to a second tape cable so that the strip line conductors of the two cables, which extend into their respective beadings, are electrically connected. The individual connections are completed sequentially by means of a zipper process. In Fig. 3 the zipper comprises a pair of connector beads 30 and 31 in the form of interlocking plastic channels which carry conductors 33 and which are forced together by a wedge slide. The two tape cables are secured against lateral motion by snap fasteners, pins or staples. The snap fastener, if asymmetrically placed, may serve as an indexing means. To increase contact pressure, a metal zipper with separate teeth may be used which has insulating teeth separating adjacent circuits. Shielding may be provided by having earthed teeth adjacent current-carrying zipper teeth.</p> |
