PURPOSE: A device of a portable terminal for protecting application data and a method thereof are provided to protect person information and to encode an application by generating an intrinsic key of the application with an ID of the application. CONSTITUTION: An application module(201) receives data inputted to an application. A platform system module(202) encodes the data by using an intrinsic key of the application and a file system module(203) stores the encoded data. The platform system module receives the data from the application module and decodes the data by using the intrinsic key. The application module receives the decoded data from the platform system module. The platform system module exchanges an ID of the application and the intrinsic key of the portable terminal with an input value to generate the intrinsic key of the application through a specific algorithm.
