PURPOSE: A memory device including a nonvolatile memory and a method for controlling the nonvolatile memory are provided to improve an operation speed by efficiently using a storage space of a memory area. CONSTITUTION: A memory device includes a nonvolatile memory(100) and a controller(200). The nonvolatile memory includes a first memory area(111) and a second memory area(112). A controller stores write units from the outside in the second memory area. The controller moves the temporarily stored write unit to the second memory area or directly stores each write unit in the second memory area after each write unit is temporarily stored in the first memory area according to the type of each write unit.
