<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction member that reduces variation of friction coefficient, and to provide a brake. <P>SOLUTION: A friction member is formed by: bonding a plurality of friction materials 2 to a sheet-like carbon fiber member 1 with a resin material 20; winding the carbon fiber member 1 for lamination; shaping the laminated carbon fiber member 1 in a rectangular shape while heating and pressurizing the carbon fiber member; and forming cross-sectional surfaces as sliding surfaces, wherein the cross-sectional surfaces are obtained by cutting the shaped carbon fiber member 1 in a direction perpendicular to a lamination direction of the carbon fiber member 1 and in a direction different from the lamination direction thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
