The present invention relates to a medicament for the treatment of cardiac disease, especially to a medicament suitable for the treatment of myocardial disease involving myocyte hypertrophy, especially fibroblast-derived cardiac hypertrophy, e.g. heart failure, heart hypertrophy, diastolic and/or systolic ventricular dysfunction and/or other cardiovascular diseases, where fibrosis is involved, especially aortic stenosis, atrial fibrillation, genetic forms of cardiomyopathy, cardiac storage diseases by providing an inhibitor specific for at least one of a set of microRNAs found in exosomes originating from cardiac fibroblasts for use as a medicament for human patients.
