A vehicle wheel for supporting a pneumatic tyre. The wheel includes a structure 7 supporting a sound absorbing material 9. The sound absorbing material is in fluid communication with a cavity defined by the wheel and a pneumatic tyre when the tyre is fitted to the wheel. The sound absorbing material reduces noise arising from resonance in the cavity and, because it is supported by a structure on the wheel, it can he positioned so that it does not interfere with and is not displaced or damaged by a tyre when the tyre is being fitted to the wheel.
