Bearing cones 13 are fed upwards along walking beam 11, and are held upright at 40 by magnet 41 so that the topmost cone may be discharged by ejector arm 45 into grinder 10. The processed cones are received from the grinder on storage rail 15, maintained upright by magnetic means and periodically displaced leftwards by cylinder 58 to make place for the next processed cone. Finally, the processed cones are removed by hand on handling device 15. Walking beam 11 (Figs. 2, 4). Beam 11 consists of stationary rails 17 and moving rails 18. The latter carry housings 31, 39 (not shown), which bear upon eccentric shafts 30, 38 so that the movement of rails 18 conveys the cones along the walking beam up the slope thereof. Ejector arm 45 (Fig. 7). Arm 45 is operated by cylinder 48 via link 49 and shaft 47, to discharge cone 13 from walking beam 11 and to roll it down shoot 42 into the grinder. Arm 45 has slotted fingers 46 which co-operate with an extension of the beam 11.
