PURPOSE: A system for detecting the contaminant of an intake flow of a compressor is provided to reduce the influence of a maintenance requisite, costs for operation, and differential pressure. CONSTITUTION: A system for detecting the contaminant of an intake flow of a compressor comprises a plurality of detectors(36,37,38) and a controller(42). The detectors detect a smoke-and-fog condition and a dust condition of an air flow to the compressor. The controller is connected to the detectors and activates the controller according to signals indicating the smoke-and-fog condition and the dust condition.
