961,406. Regulating switches; oil-break switches. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. April 12, 1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13150/61. Heading H2B. In a tubular rotary tap-changing switch having a cylinder of insulating material carrying the fixed contacts 4, the cylinder comprises two substantially semi-cylindrical shells 1 and 3 assembled with slots 2 and 8 therebetween to permit flow of cooling oil. This construction allows a much larger moving contact 9 than could be inserted axially if the contacts 4 were on a unitary cylinder. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, several layers of fixed contacts 4 are provided and the respective contacts 9 are each carried by two pins 7 engaging from above and below in cup-shaped recesses in the contact, the pins 7 being secured to a metal insert 5 mounted in the hollow switching shaft 6 which is made of insulating material. A compression spring bears against the contact 9 at 10. Spacers may be inserted to maintain the slots 2 and 8, and circumferential bands (not shown) hold the shells together. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the moving contact bridges each comprise a plurality of flat bars carried on an insulating arm mounted on the shaft 6. |
