Method and device for determining the state of wear of a load carrier of an elevator

The method involves routing a carrying unit of a lift over a drive sheave and/or a set of return pulleys, and connecting a cabin to a counterweight. The carrying unit is subdivided into a set of sections (A1 to A5), and a determination is made that whether the section passes through the drive sheave and/or the return pulleys during a trip for each section of the carrying unit. A usage level representing the degree of service life of the carrier unit is increased according to the sections of the carrier unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining degree of service life of a carrying unit of a lift comprising a controller for controlling the lift.
