PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing poncirin, which suppresses osteoclastogenesis is provided to suppress the differentiation of osteoclast and the expression of TRAP, cathepsin K, MMP-9, and NFATc1, and to be used as the pharmaceutical composition, health functional food, and a food additive. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating bone metabolic diseases contains poncirin as an active ingredient, which suppresses osteoclast. The bone metabolid diseases are osteoporosis, Paget disease, periodontal disease, metastatic cancer, and rheumatoid arthiritis. Food or a food additive containing poncirin prevents and treats bone metabolic diseases. Health functional food containing poncirin is used in a form of a drug, food, and a drink for preventing and treating bone metabolic diseases.
