<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generation apparatus which generates a monitor display image allowing for simple recognition of a three-dimensional object projected on a bird's-eye-view image, particularly the standing position of the three-dimensional object. <P>SOLUTION: The image generation apparatus comprises: a bird's-eye-view image generation unit which generates a bird's-eye-view image by projective transformation, from an above virtual viewpoint, of an image taken by vehicle-mounted cameras 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d for taking images of the peripheral region of a vehicle; a three-dimensional object detection unit which recognizes a three-dimensional object located in the peripheral region and outputs three-dimensional object attribute information indicating the attributes of the three-dimensional object; and an image composition unit which on the basis of the three-dimensional object attribute information, performs image composition of a ground surface mark indicating the ground position of the three-dimensional object to the ground position in the bird's-eye-view image, thereby generating a monitor display image for supporting vehicle operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
