<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive an imaging element in an operation mode desired by a user. <P>SOLUTION: A driving device includes: a control unit for obtaining parameters for driving an image sensor for light-receiving an optical image from a subject to output a captured image as an electric signal, in an operation mode desired by a user; a synchronization signal generation circuit for, on the basis of the parameters, generating each timing at which each of a plurality of horizontal synchronization periods obtained by mixing horizontal synchronization periods different by the predetermined number of clocks is started; and a driving control unit for allowing each of lines constituting the image sensor to receive the optical image from the subject in synchronization with each timing generated by the synchronization signal generation circuit.
