<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lid of a packaging container, and a packaging container, that can exhibit conflicting performances such as securing excellent visibility and full strength at the same time without having a complicated structure that may lower the visibility of the lid or damage appearance of the entire lid. <P>SOLUTION: The lid of the packaging container includes: a top plate part 11 in which approximately the entire top face is constructed by a flat face; a lid sidewall part 12 which is connected to the top plate part 11 and has an inclined surface expanding downwardly; and a lid flange part 13 connected to the lid sidewall part 12. The top plate part 11 is constructed approximately in an octagonal shape with its approximately rectangular four corners chamfered linearly. The lid sidewall part 12 connected to the top plate part 11 includes at least eight inclined surfaces and includes a recessed groove 14 in a V shape in a plane view continuously extending to the lower end of the lid sidewall part 12 with eight angle parts of the top plate part 11 as origins.
