<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably achieve high speed control for an oscillation wavelength. <P>SOLUTION: A method for controlling a variable wavelength semiconductor laser, as a method for controlling an oscillation wavelength of the variable wavelength semiconductor laser, includes: obtaining a change rate a of the oscillation wavelength to a change in injection current in an SG-DFB region 24 and a change rate b of the oscillation wavelength to a change in heater application power in a CSG-DBR region 22; calculating a difference between a target oscillation wavelength and a current oscillation wavelength; supplying the injection current to which a deviation is added so that the difference approaches zero, to the SG-DFB region 24 by using feedback control; determining a target value of the heater application power on the basis of the deviation and the change rates a and b for the injection current; and adjusting a heater current supplied to the CSG-DBR region 22 by using the feedback control so that a difference between the target value and current heater application power approaches zero. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
