<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device, an image forming apparatus, a history storing method, and a computer program for reliably identifying a cause that has led to the occurrence of an abnormal state; and a recording medium that has the computer program stored therein. <P>SOLUTION: In a compound machine 100 including one or more data processing units, a history obtaining unit 10 obtains and stores a processing history from the one or more data processing units periodically or non-periodically from a normal operation state until the occurrence of abnormality.
