<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting a difference in the properties of different brands of papers stored in a plurality of paper-feeding stages set for the same type of papers and automatically selecting a paper-feeding stage in which papers more adequate for printing are stored. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a first paper-feeding stage and a second paper-feeding stage in which the same type of papers are stored. The image forming apparatus selects the first paper-feeding stage, acquires paper property information of papers stored in the first paper-feeding stage, evaluates the paper property information using a preset reference value, and determines whether or not to use a paper stored the first paper-feeding stage, using the result of the evaluation. When determing to use a paper stored the first paper-feeding stage, the image forming apparatus feeds a paper from the first paper-feeding stage and prints an image formed according to a print job on the fed paper. When determing not to use a paper stored the first paper-feeding stage, the image forming apparatus feeds a paper from the second paper-feeding stage and prints an image formed according to the print job on the fed paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
