<p>PURPOSE: Contactless power transfer system and method having an overheat protection function are provided to facilitate full charge by preventing overheating of a battery cell module. CONSTITUTION: A power transfer unit includes a power transfer coil(140). The coil transfers power to a contactless power reception device. A first signal reception unit(160) receives an overheat alarm signal. A contactless power transfer control unit(110) transfers a first power to the device. The control unit transfers a second power when if the overheat alarm signal is received.
