An element, for example, an organic electroluminescent element having excellent service life characteristics is provided by using a benzofluorene compound represented by general formula (1), wherein a benzofluorene ring is substituted by an N,N-diphenylamino group and an N-naphthyl-N-phenylamino group, as a material for a light emitting layer of the organic electroluminescent element.
