The present invention relates to a system and method for providing a caller identification information display service using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) over a network. Provided in the present invention is a system for providing a caller identification information display service using USSD over a GSM network, the system comprising: a database which stores identification information on terminals that have subscribed to a caller identification display service; an identification information transport server which calls identification information from the database and transports same to a gateway if a calling terminal is subscribed to the caller identification information display service; and the gateway which transports the identification information received from the identification information transport server to the receiving terminal in a USSD format. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a caller identification information service regardless of both the network environments of the carriers to which the calling and receiving terminals are subscribed, and the kinds of the terminals. In addition, it is possible to provide the caller identification information display service even if the calling and receiving terminals are subscribed to different carriers.
