The method involves providing a substrate i.e. glass or Plexiglas plate, comprising an upper face and a lower face, and covering the upper face of the substrate with a thin liquid adhesive layer. Thin gold sheets are applied on the upper face of the substrate for providing a uniform gold layer, where the gold layer has thickness in range of 0.5 to 3 micrometers. The covered substrate i.e. gold substrate (3), is placed on a horizontal plane, and ink printing is performed by a digital printing machine (7) that operates from a digital image file.
