SPATIAL SOUND RENDERING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A spatial rendering system comprises a spatial renderer (101) for rendering spatial audio signals to a user. The spatial audio signals comprise a first sound source rendered at a first position and a second sound source rendered at a second position. A position adjuster (113) can vary the second position in response to a user input and a match detector (117) receives a user match indication indicating that the user has performed a matching of the second position to the first position. A performance metric circuit (119) determines a performance metric for the matching of the first position; and the second position and a controller (121) determines a spatial processing parameter for the spatial renderer (101) in response to the performance metric. The system may allow calibration of a spatial rendering system from a user feedback based on relative position estimation by the user.
