<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power output device preventing malfunction of a damper mechanism in a hybrid vehicle, wherein ratting noise at a power distribution mechanism is not generated by torque variation of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: In a state where driving control for causing output torque Pm of an MG2 to be nearly 0 is continuously executed (YES in S102-S106), output torque of an internal combustion engine is increased (S108). A lowest level of the output torque imparted from the internal combustion engine to a damper mechanism is thereby increased, and torque variation can exceed hysteresis torque. Accordingly, malfunction of the damper mechanism is not generated, and output torque variation can be absorbed. Therefore, the output torque variation does not pass through the damper mechanism, and is not transmitted to a power distribution mechanism.
