<p>PURPOSE: A light emitting diode is provided to improve the light extraction efficiency of the light emitting diode by using an encapsulating material for an ultraviolet LED below 350nm. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting unit(12) is electrically connected to a first contact(14) and a second contact(16). An encapsulating material(18) seals the light emitting unit and parts of the second contact and the first contact. The encapsulating material includes polydimethylsiloxane. The light emitting unit, the first contact, and the second contact between a mount(10) and a molding compound is completely encapsulated. The light emitting unit includes at least one inorganic conductor material. The encapsulating material directly touches the mount in a peripheral unit.</p> |
