<p>A user requests digital content 1-5 from a first device and submits credentials 9-11 to authorize payment to unlock the content on a second device 12-15. When the transaction is completed an authorisation is sent to a consumption device, which may be the first or second device or a third device, and is used to unlock the digital content. A system may hold transactions in progress and direct the user to a credential-submission interface on the second device e.g. via a URL, hyperlink or QR code 6-8, the user inputting a transaction ID or associated shorter code on accessing the URL using the second device in order to complete the transaction. The authorization may include an authenticable digital rights object enumerating the usage rights. The user may have an account specifying the relevant devices. The user may already have the content and wish to purchase usage rights 1A, or may wish to acquire the content and usage rights at the same time 1B.</p> |
