PURPOSE: A recommended information providing device and method are provided to enable a user to easily and simply search for corresponding information when searching for the same information, for which the user searched once before, through a different terminal. CONSTITUTION: A recommended information providing device(100) includes a user authentication part(110), a search word storage part(120), a selection information storage part(130), and a recommended information providing part(140), and can include an auto-complete search word providing part(150) and a notification message providing part(160). The user authentication part of the recommended information providing device authenticates a user by receiving login information from the user. The search word storage part stores user-inputted search words for each user based on the login information inputted through the user authentication part. The selection information storage part stores selection information, selected by the user among the search information searched by using the user-inputted search words, by relating to the login information. If a search word, corresponding to the search word stored in the search word storage part based on the login information, is determined to be being inputted by the user, the recommended information providing part provides the selection information stored in the selection information storage part as recommended information. If a search word, corresponding to the search word stored in the search word storage part, is determined to be being inputted by the corresponding user, the auto-complete search word providing part can provide an auto-complete search word, which is a completed form of the search word being inputted, by using the search words stored for each user. When comparing search information pre-stored in a search server database and the selection information stored in the selection information storage part and if they are not matched, the notification message providing part provides a notification message, reporting that the selection information stored in the selection information storage part is changed, to the user.
