A method for removing insoluble contaminants from a heat exchange system is disclosed. The method may be a single-pass system or a system incorporating a plurality of apparatuses in parallel. The method measures the pressure drop across a filter and purges contaminants based on the measured pressure drop. The method is particularly applicable to detecting and removing bitumen from a heat exchange system. |
