This method for manufacturing patterned wood material is provided with: an embossing process for forming depressions (20) by embossing on a wood material (10) on which a pattern (2) is to be applied, the depressions having shapes that correspond to the pattern (2); a first coloring process of applying a coloring dye on the depressions (20) and other portions (25) of the wood material (10); a sanding process of sanding the surface of the wood material (10) after the first coloring process to remove the color from the non-depression portions (25) while leaving the color inside the depressions (20); and a second coloring process of applying, on the surface of the wood material (10), a coloring dye of a lighter color than the coloring dye used in the first coloring process.
