The method involves heating a workpiece (3) simultaneously by two inductors (5, 17) in an inductive manner, where the workpiece exhibits low thermal conductivity. The inductors are displaced on opposite sides (15, 27) of the workpiece relative to each other in a direction parallel to a face portion of the workpiece such that meander-shaped windings (11) of one of the inductors are arranged between meander-shaped windings (23) of the other inductor when the inductors are viewed from top. The inductors are moved relative to the workpiece that is moved relative to the inductors.
