The invention relates to a very large self-jacking platform (1) for processing gas or oil at sea, of the type comprising a shell (10) mounted movably on main bearer legs (30) by means of drive mechanisms (35). The distance between two adjacent main legs (30) is greater than 75 m and the shell (10) comprises, between said adjacent main legs (30), at least one secondary bearer leg (40) equipped with drive mechanisms (45). The invention also relates to a method of assembling and installing a very large self-jacking platform of this type.
