<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for monitoring a movable partition. <P>SOLUTION: The system comprises: a sensor linked to a movable partition 15; a drive system 20; and a controller 30. The drive system 20 is configured to move the movable partition 15. The sensor, which includes a drum connected to the partition 15 by a cable, is independent of the drive system 20. The sensor transmits a signal indicative of the rotational motion of the drum to the controller 30 that receives the transmitted signal and calculates at least one of a speed, acceleration, position, and direction of movement of the movable partition 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
