<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a position error in collation or synthesization between an ABS track and an INC track due to transmission delay of ABS pattern information. <P>SOLUTION: In an absolute measurement length type encoder which includes an incremental track 12 and an absolute track 14 and in which incremental position information obtained from the incremental track 12 and absolute position information obtained from the absolute track 14 are made to be collated or synthesized, delay means (54) is provided which delays acquisition of the incremental position information in accordance with time from requesting the absolute position information until receiving it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
