A method of processing image components for coding or decoding an image sample, the image being composed of at least a first type of component (e.g., luma component, Y) and a second type of component (e.g., chroma component, Cb, Cr) different to the first type - samples of the second component type being predictable from samples of at least the first type using a prediction model linking the component type - comprises: computing a parameter value, e.g. using a Least Mean Square (LMS) method, representing, in the prediction model, the link between the first and second component types; detecting 203 whether or not at least one type of error (e.g., quantization error) exists in the computed parameter value of the prediction model and, in the case where an error is detected, adapting 211 the computed parameter value to correct for the error detected; and predicting a sample of the second type from a sample of the first type using the prediction model and the adapted parameter value. Associated coding devices and a signal are also claimed. The parameter error type may be determined, 204-210. Data may be collected from N chroma and luma samples from image borders. |
